Day 10

4 Again he (Jesus) began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. 2 And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: 3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. 6 And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. 8 And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” 9 And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 4:4-9

In this passage, Jesus is revealing Kingdom principles and culture through relatable stories to those who would listen.

  1. Welcome God to come in this time and begin by expressing gratitude, praise, and worship.
  2. In the next few days, we are going to study Mark 4:4-20 where Jesus shares the parable of the “Seed and Sower.” We are also going to focus on what renewal looks like when we not only hear the word of God but we also allow it to penetrate the fabric of our lives. In prayer, ask the Lord to prepare your heart for the renewal He wants to give you in these next few days.
  3. Verse 9 says, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Sometimes we shut out the Lord’s voice because we are afraid of what He’s going to say or ask us to do. When you read this verse, can you say in honesty that you have ears that are always willing to listen to the Lord’s voice? Are you willing to hear His words of correction, direction, love, etc.?
  4. John 6:63-64 says, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--- they are full of the Spirit and life.” Renewal comes when we fully listen and surrender to His words that give life. But surrender can sometimes be a process. If you are hungry for God’s renewal in your life, take this time in prayer to surrender and tell the Lord that you are willing to listen and obey Him.
  5. Listen to the song, “Touch of Heaven” by Hillsong Worship and invite the Lord to speak to you through the music and lyrics.
  6. Beloved, God’s renewal is for you today and always! May you step into all He has as you surrender to His loving Presence.
